Birgit Schuhbauer, Vicepresident Self Care EMEA & Developed Markets at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health.

Birgit graduated as Diplom-Betriebswirt & Diplòme d'Etudes Supérieures Européennes de Management in one of the first international management programs in Europe at ESB Reutlingen/CESEM Reims. Her thesis was on the subject of “Global marketing and its consequences for local marketing functions”, a topic that would keep her busy all the years until to today.

She started a classic FMCG marketing career at Colgate Palmolive in Hamburg and New York, then at L`oréal in Paris, Karlsruhe and Düsseldorf, then joined Pfizer Pharma in Germany in 1992 as a Marketing Manager OTC/Skincare. In 1996 she became Business Unit Director for OTC/Skincare at Pfizer leading now a large pharmacy Field Force along with the marketing team. In 2000 after the integration of the Warner Lambert Consumer Business into Pfizer Birgit led the new combined business as the Managing Director of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare DE/A/CH until the business got divested to J&J and Birgit got appointed General Manager OTC Central Eastern Europe/Russia and moved to Prague, where she started to develop her passion for Emerging Markets.

In 2007 Birgit created the OTC Strategic Marketing Team for J&J Europe-Middle East- Africa, which she led until 2011, when she got appointed Global VP Strategic Marketing OTC, leading Global Franchises such as Nicorette, Imodium, Visine, Benylin, Olynth, Sudafed and others as well as the overall EMEA regional OTC strategy deployment. Since 2019 she is VP Self Care EMEA and Developed Markets and continues to lead the Global Smoking Cessation, Cough & Cold and Digestive Health Franchises.

Birgit gained rich experiences in change management and organization design, in integration and de-integration of companies and businesses and led various acquistions. Within J&J Consumer she engages for diversity and female leadership and is appreciated for her focus on talent and people development.

She is since 2009 in the Board of the AESGP, the European Selfcare Industry Association, based in Brussels and since 2016 President of it. Birgit lives with her husband in Zürich, CH
